IT Desktop Support Intern – Onsite
Role Overview:
GM Performance Power Units is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Desktop Support Intern to join our fast-growing team. This internship provides hands-on experience in a cutting-edge, high-performance environment, supporting day-to-day IT operations across the organization. The IT Desktop Support Intern will assist with troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting desktop hardware, software, and devices to help ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role offers valuable exposure to enterprise IT systems while working closely with experienced IT professionals and end-users.
On-Site: Position requires the intern to be on-site at the Concord, NC facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-level technical support for desktop and laptop computers, printers, peripherals, and software applications under supervision.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and basic network connectivity issues.
- Support the installation, configuration, and updating of desktop operating systems, applications, and security software.
- Help with setup and deployment of new devices, including imaging, configuration, and asset tagging.
- Assist end-users with password resets, access requests, and general IT support inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records of support requests, resolutions, and IT inventory using ticketing systems.
- Collaborate with IT team members to escalate complex issues and assist with infrastructure-related projects.
- Follow company IT policies, procedures, and security protocols.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to build technical knowledge and professional skills
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Familiarity with computer hardware components and troubleshooting fundamentals.
- Foundational knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VPN, and Wi-Fi.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a team-oriented setting.
- Interest in supporting IT within manufacturing, engineering, or high-performance environments such as motorsports.
- Familiarity with remote support tools or IT asset management systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move in diverse operational environments, including race shops, arenas, and commercial facilities.
- Comfortable working in variable environmental conditions, including loud, high-traffic, or high-pressure environments.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials and components typically up to 25 lbs, with heavier items handled with assistance or appropriate equipment as needed.
