“On The Kerbs” with Thiemo Albers-Daly
Award winning Freelance Motorsport Journalist and PR Consultant
Interview with: Fernanda Gascón
By combining her dual passions of motorsport and photography, Fernanda Gascón found her calling.
While she dreams of one day working in Formula 1 and MotoGP, her focal point currently lies elsewhere. That’s because Fernanda understands the importance of not simply taking photos of a driver, a car or an event. High quality images are one thing but most lack that special something. Telling a story, building a connection between her subjects and her audience and capturing the raw, intimate and breathtaking moments is where the real magic lies and that is where Fernanda’s focus is.
She does this by covering motorsport across Mexico, with an emphasis on those starting out their motorsport careers in karting as well as those working hard behind the scenes too.
The irony is that nobody has told her story yet which is why it’s a pleasure for me to get the chance to do so.
Fernanda and I caught up recently to chat about all of this and much more, including her own ambitions for the future, her dream super power (it’s beautifully fitting) and the biggest challenge that she’s had to face so far.
Without people like Fernanda, we wouldn’t get to see all the fantastic intricacies going on in motorsport in a part of the world we don’t often get to see as much of as we should. As the old saying goes, a picture paints a thousand words – and by that metric, Fernanda is producing an epic volume of work.
Check out our conversation in full here and go ahead and follow Fernanda here on Instagram if you don’t already.
Thank You again to Fernanda for taking the time to chat.
